Building Energy Codes – Implementation
Even though a code may be adopted on paper, it takes a significantly greater effort to ensure all stakeholders understand how to meet code requirements as they undertake new building design and construction. SEEA provides implementation resources by:
- Working with state code adoption agencies (e.g. State Energy Offices) to create implementation plans and resources.
- Coordinating with Home Builders Associations (HBAs), Building Official Associations (BOAs) and professional organizations (e.g. local ASHRAE, ICC and AIA chapters) to provide trainings.
- Providing resources (e.g. field guides) to simplify code language and streamline the design and construction process.
SEEA and Advanced Energy continue to collaborate in developing and providing Success Guides, which are state-specific residential construction field guides. Since 2012, these guides have been available for purchase at cost on the SEEA Marketplace.
