Building Energy Codes – Development

When model codes are being developed, it is vitally important that requirements take into consideration the unique factors of the Southeast, such as our climate and construction type. SEEA recognizes this need, and supports the inclusion of the Southeast’s voice by:

  • Notifying regional stakeholders of codes and standards committees, meetings and hearings
  • Representing the Southeast at code conferences, meetings and hearings
  • Sharing successful state and local amendments with national stakeholders
  • Providing opportunities for Southeast stakeholders to attend code events

For the 2015 IECC Code hearings in Atlantic City, New Jersey, SEEA and ACEEE collaborated to provide travel scholarships that made it possible for several representatives of southeastern states to attend.
